Wild West: How Our Jerky Is Made
Our Beef Jerky is made with carefully selected cuts of beef. From our facility in the Scottish Highlands, the meat is shipped to England to be prepared and marinated for 24 hours.
The meat is then sliced and packaged, giving you a tasty, nutritious snack that's rich in protein.
Our meats are produced throughout the UK, in Ireland, and parts of northern Europe to ensure the product is consistent in quality and taste.
Our snacks are hugely popular among athletes and anyone looking for an energy boost, as the products are rich in protein and relatively low in fat. This makes our jerky a healthier choice compared to products like crisps, biscuits and sweets, which is exactly why it's so popular as a snack at home, at work, and for anyone always on the move.
This food originated in North America, where the first settlers, observing the indigenous peoples preparing and eating it, decided to develop the product into what we know today as "Beef Jerky".
The name Jerky comes from Quechua (an ancient language spoken in the Andes) "harqui", a word that simply means 'dried, salted meat'.
Another reason for its popularity is that it's convenient to buy and store, since it needs no refrigeration and doesn't have to be eaten right away — it keeps for up to three days after the pack is opened, making it perfect to carry around or to keep on hand as a snack while watching TV or working at your computer.
