How Carbs Fog Your Brain

Once upon a time, there was a period in my life when I always felt tired and had brain fog.

Every day, at lunch or as a snack, I would treat myself to a meal rich in carbohydrates: bread, pasta, biscuits, crisps, sweets... they were all so delicious, easily accessible, and often cheap.

But I didn't know what was really happening to my body when I ate these foods.

When I consumed these carb-rich foods, my body broke them down into simple sugars, which were absorbed into my bloodstream.

This caused a rise in blood sugar, which stimulated my pancreas to produce insulin; this helped my body's cells absorb sugar from the blood and use it for energy.

But there was a downside: a large carb-rich meal could cause a spike in blood sugar followed by a rapid drop, known as a "sugar crash."

This made me feel tired and sleepy. Furthermore, as studies from the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" and the "Journal of Neurochemistry" found, insulin stimulates the production of amino acids that produce serotonin and melatonin, neurotransmitters that promote sleep.

These physical effects had a significant impact on my daily life.

Sleepiness and "brain fog" reduced my productivity at work, affected my relationships, and limited my ability to enjoy my free time: I always felt tired, couldn't concentrate, and often felt irritable.

So I started to imagine what my life would be like if I avoided these carb-rich foods.

I would have more energy during the day, my concentration would improve, I would feel more active and productive, and this could lead to improvements in my relationships with others.

I started looking for healthier alternatives to my carb-rich snacks.

One of my favorite discoveries was beef jerky: it's convenient to carry everywhere, rich in protein, and low in carbohydrates.

Now, my life is completely different.

I have more energy, I'm more focused, and I feel happier and more satisfied. My relationships have improved, my productivity at work has increased, and I enjoy my free time more. And all this thanks to a simple change in my diet.

Remember, it's not about completely eliminating carbohydrates from your diet.

It's about making healthier choices and understanding how the food you eat affects your body and your life.

And if you need a suggestion for a healthy and tasty snack, try our beef jerky.

I promise, you won't regret it.

So, the next time you find yourself choosing what to eat for lunch or a snack, think about how that food will affect your body and your life.

Remember, every small change can make a big difference.
